Our Story
- SMC (Sports management Centre) / Tennis Foundation is a conceptualized venture, an ambitious one, well intoned and service oriented.
- December 31st, 1996 was its inception.
- The Brain behind this was Mr. T. N. Bhushan and the driving force Ravi Kiran.
- The idea took birth with a question as to why India with a population of the One Billion (100 Crores) could not produce an athlete of Olympic class and standard where as Australia with a fraction of that, just 1.
- World Cup champions in cricket, finals group in world cup football and medalist in world cup hockey champions.
- Keeping in tune with the low sports standards of India, Hyderabad too lags for behind in this field.
- Therefore a concerted effort was needed to put Hyderabad on the world sports map.
- To do this a Professional management group was required to shoulder the responsibility.
- With this desire sports management centre was constituted to spot and identify the latent talents of youngsters, harness them, coach them, hone their prowess, promote them and finally manage them in order to bring them up to international levels.
- The entire spectrum of sports discipline needed to be carefully studied and implemented.
- In the beginning the game of Tennis was targeted as a heralding effort.
- And later other discipline like cricket, football, hockey, judo etc, was to be taken up in right earliest.
- For this, a clarion call goes out to all sports minded nationalists to come together and with ideal delegation of duties, strive to make this dream happen.
